ah, i still remember us sitting around the table analyzing Nirvana’s Bleach and thinking, “man, i bet their next album’s gonna be a totally unexpected monster – we should try and rip some of that off before it comes out – and even steal their future engineer for good measure”! and in the end, we pretty much nailed it – to this day i have to check the sleeve just to make sure i haven’t inadvertently slipped on Nevermind when those opening chords of Ugly hit. of course, now i think, if we’d just been a little more original… damn!
Yeah, I think if more people had perceived our “rote imitation of Nirvana,” it may have translated into more record sales. Of if we’d
changed our name to “Bush.”
