Lounge Ax. 3/1/96. (Excerpt#1)

Lounge Ax. 3/1/96. (Excerpt#1)

This was an epic set, the first of its nature for
the Dylan/Jeff/Phil/Thymme incarnation of the
band. There were several guests throughout the
evening, but the most memorable was the famous
drummer who visited (in a sense) at the set’s conclusion.
Along with the “Feldman Chord” and “Ice Cream And Lies,”
this is what we have here.

Phil Bonnet- guitar
Dylan Posa- guitar, bass
Jeff Libersher- guitar
Thymme Jones- drums, trumpet
Jeb Bishop- trombone
Eric _____ – trombone

Phrogclock’s Polar Vortex

Our hapless phriend picked a bad winter to live in New York.
(Well, I suppose he would have been worse off had he stayed
in Chicago: It’s been cold!!!) And he picked a bad winter to have
landlord problems. Oh, poor Phrog! Here are two recent phone
calls, one where he leaves a message on (yes, this is the actual
name of his landlord) John J. Lease’s voicemail, and the other
where Mr. Lease returns his call. Hopefully Phrogclock was able to
get this matter resolved to his satisfaction.

Non-repeat Car Alarm

Talking Head 5/25/05 Baltimore, MD

Jeff Libersher-guitar, trumpet; Thymme Jones- drums, trumpet; Alex Perkolup- bass;
Andrea Faught- trumpet; Todd Rittmann- master of ceremonies; Eorl Scholl- videography
and suggestions

Baltimore is always an adventure. Our previous time in Baltimore
entailed getting five minutes into our set before a Skinhead riot
occurred: A smoke bomb went off, the doorman got brass knuckled,
the venue was evacuated, and the rest of the show was cancelled.
(We were first.) This time out was slightly less exciting, but maybe
just as fun! I mean, you can’t beat a car alarm pulse simultaneously
playing against our “non-repeating pattern.” It’s like patting your head
and rubbing your stomach at the same time!

Tony Fortunate Smith

Evelyn Davis- spontaneous narration; Dante/Jeff/Thymme- cackling;
Charles Dudley Bayne, III- incidental music

Sometimes things get kind of strange at CHEER-ACCIDENT rehearsals.
This is what happened on some oppressively hot and humid August night
in 2013 as we prepared for our European tour.

A Smoking For Two Christmas

Back in December of ’98, Greg Beemster recorded an a cappella rendition of  “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” Greg’s vocals had always sounded like a slowed-down Karen Carpenter, and indeed his interpretation of this seasonal classic owes more than a little to the Carpenters’ take on the song, which can be heard on the Christmas album that they recorded in 1978. Greg’s good friend, Thymme, who documented the solo vocal performance, decided to add some pitch-shifted pianos to the mix…   and then some trumpet… and so an idea was born: For the next ten holiday seasons, Thymme would take Greg’s original vocal track and add different instrumentation (while erasing the previous year’s music). The two friends would then hand out copies to people they knew in the form of store-bought, pre-recorded cassettes. (They would record over the first four minutes of, say, a Peter Frampton or Madonna or Judas Priest or Pearl Jam release, leaving the rest of the album intact.) After a few years, the tradition evolved as they began to occasionally include an audio Christmas letter (by an anonymous acquaintance of theirs) and then switched from cassette tapes to CDrs. (Not as fun, but the letters definitely compensated…)  Anyway, what we have here in 2013 is every year’s recording on one purchasable CDr, which can be acquired by going here:  cheer-accident.com/merch/                                                                                              enJOY?
